Custom Acrylic Glass Tables Designed for Your Project, Not for the Warehouse

Slab Console Table

Acrylic glass is simply another name for acrylic, plexiglass, lucite, or perspex — a transparent material that has become one of the most specified surfaces in luxury interior design. At Plexi-Craft, a custom acrylic glass coffee table is never pulled from inventory. It is designed from a first sketch, cut to your exact dimensions, and finished by hand in our Chicago workshop — built for one space and one client.

What Is Acrylic Glass?

Acrylic glass is a catch-all term for the same material sold under several brand and trade names: acrylic, plexiglass, lucite, and perspex are all the same substance — polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) — with slightly different marketing histories behind each name. Designers use the terms interchangeably, and so do we.

What sets premium acrylic glass apart from the material used in mass-market furniture is thickness, optical grade, and UV stability. Plexi-Craft uses only the highest-grade North American acrylic — optically clear, UV-stable so it will not yellow in sunlight, and thick enough to give each piece the structural integrity and visual weight a luxury interior demands. For a full breakdown of the material, see our acrylic FAQ page.

Why Designers Choose a Custom Acrylic Glass Coffee Table

When a table is cut, shaped, and finished for a single space, it works in perfect proportion with every other element in the room. A standard off-the-shelf table is a compromise — it fits approximately, finishes generically, and reads as furniture. A custom piece fits exactly, finishes precisely, and reads as design.

The difference shows in the details: the exact width that clears the sectional by the right margin, the edge profile that echoes the room’s millwork, the thickness that gives the piece visual weight without overpowering the space. None of that is achievable from inventory. All of it is standard practice at Plexi-Craft.

Whether it is a lucite console table, a round acrylic dining table, or an acrylic waterfall console table, every scale and finishing detail is adjusted for the project — never for a warehouse shelf.

Types of Acrylic Glass Coffee Tables Designers Specify

Every Plexi-Craft table begins with your brief. A few of the most requested configurations:

  • Clear acrylic glass dining table — for open-concept layouts where light and floor space are priorities. The transparency keeps the room from feeling divided.
  • Lucite and gold console table — for entryways that need presence without visual weight. Brass or gold hardware details add warmth against the clear acrylic body.
  • Plexiglass cube table — for showcasing collectibles or art objects without visual distraction. The clear acrylic walls disappear; the object inside becomes the focal point.
  • Acrylic rectangle coffee table — for structured seating plans in modern living rooms. Clean geometry, precise proportion, no visual noise.
  • Curved acrylic coffee table — for softening rigid floor plans and creating natural movement paths around a seating group.
  • Acrylic waterfall coffee table — a continuous flowing form with no visible joints or hardware, reading as a single gesture in clear material.

Craftsmanship in Every Detail

Our team cuts each component to specification, polishes every edge to an optically clear finish, and assembles with invisible glue joints — no visible hardware, no seams, no compromise. Each piece goes through a full quality inspection before packing and shipping.

This is the same standard we have upheld for over 60 years. Many mid-century acrylic pieces still in circulation today bear the Plexi-Craft mark. That is the durability a custom acrylic glass table delivers when it is built correctly — not a piece that needs replacing in five years, but one that outlasts the interior around it.

Design Ideas by Space

  • City loft: A large square acrylic glass coffee table centered over a patterned rug — the clear surface lets the rug’s pattern read fully while the table provides structure to the seating plan.
  • Coastal home: A clear lucite console table under a large mirror to amplify natural light and reinforce the room’s open, airy character.
  • Penthouse: A curved acrylic coffee table as the anchor to low, sculptural sofas — the organic form contrasts the architecture without competing with the view.
  • Commercial lobby: A custom plexiglass coffee table scaled to a generous seating cluster — clear so the space reads as open even at full occupancy.
